Print Sketch Response

Print Sketch Critique

1. Why is texture so important to have in your sketches?
When drawing an animal it is critical to get those small parts of the animals body to make the drawing come to life. When you draw the texture of animal it instantly shows a part the animal you can rarely see. When people look at art the look for the fine details that make that certain drawing unique, and by adding texture it adds flavor to the drawing.

2. Why is it neccessary for you to have several references of each animal and each background? Explain.
To see the texture of different animals. When you see frequent lines or indents in animals you know where to draw the certain lines to make your drawing come to life. Many times the animals look the same but when you have many references you can see whats different about the certain animal and add it to your drawing.

3. When you look at your sketches are you able to see which sketch is the strongest and will make the best print? How do you know this?
I think the one of the Dragonfly will be the one to make the best print. The one that comes at you with an instant effect will most likely be the strongest drawing. I know this because when I look at other peoples drawings the ones I have an instant reaction to is most likely the one that I like the most. It would make a good print to see a Dragonfly up close in its own enviornment.
