Exam Questions
1. Which project
was your favorite or most successful this semester? Please explain.
Of all the projects I had done in Art 1 the one I most thoroughly enjoyed and was the most successful was the landscape painting. It was one of the last projects that we where going to do, so having the knoledge from other projects we did helped me make this project successful. It was was stressed early in this art class to make things look like the light was shining on it from an angle. Then when I did this project in particular I stressed it a lot. When I asked Ms. Rossi about how I could make it better she continued to say throughout Art 1 add texture or blend colors. Or even use colors that you normally wouldn't use and give it a way for the picture to stand out. In art you have to give your peice something special and different to make it different from the rest and one way to do that is consistantly try new things. It was hard adjusting to try new things when making art that would seem so illogical. Such as when adding value you can add yellow to a brown painting of a cat and you could never tell any different when looking at it for the first time. This art project I made sure to have used everything I learned throughout to make the best project a possibly could.
2. Regardless of
whether you liked or disliked a project, which one did you learn, grow, or developed
the most from? Please explain.
This project, printmaking project was probably the hardest project I had ever tried to do. We did this project about half way through the semester. It was a learning expeirence for me to understand that art is not just putting colors on a peice of paper. Art can be anything and can be made from anything. I also learned that art takes a lot of steps as well. This project helped me grow in terms of being an artist. I learned what it takes to make sure a project looks good. As you can see, I didn't do very good on this project because I didn't know he neccessary art requirments that are vital to making art look its best or in this case for the print to come out as well as could. There was many steps in the process to print out the printmaking project. We had to learn how to cut out linolunen using the cutter. The cuts required getting deeper in areas and less in others. Then we where done with that we used paint for the first time in the class. The rolling pin we used we had to make sure there wasn't too much and if there wasn't too little. Even though my end result was not as great as I would hae hoped for it helped me grow. This art project was the one that I learned the most from.
3. Choose 1 piece
of Art that you used skills and techniques learned from previous projects.
Discuss your growth as an artist and how you incorporated these skills and
techniques to create the piece.
The projects we did before this one had helped me make this project a very succesful project. I had just finished a project that I didn't do so well on and I wanted to make this project better. I used all the key techniques that make art good including new techniques I learned. This included the relationship between positive and negative space. Also including learning the way to to make art look different and unique using spray paint. I grew as an artist when doing this project beacuse I could freely use the techniques that I learned and incorporate them. Sticking to finishing the project even if it was the small details I knew if I stayed persistent then the end result would be satisfying enough. I was able to learn new techniques like contrast and composition, also having an end result that looked good and abstract from the rest.
4. Which project do
you feel was the least important in learning the concepts taught in this
course? Please explain.
The anamorphosis project that we did was very fun to do and learn about perspective. Every project we had done in this class made an effect on how I do art today, but the one project that I believe had the least effect on my ability to draw is the anamorphosis project. In this project we used photoshop and incorporated technology into the art project. When we picked a picture we wanted to do then we drew it in our sketchbooks. After it had been longated on photoshop using the scale and the distort options. This part taught me how to drawing in small boxes was easier than drawing every thing at once. This was because there was less area that was needed to be worried about. Some of the techniques that I incorporated was ones I already knew, a major part of this project was including a shadow and we had done that many previous times. This was a good project that helped me get better as an artist, but I believe the other projects had a bigger effect and taught me more techniques on making my future projects better.
5. Choose a piece or artwork
where the subject matter reflects you as an artist. One that you have a
personal connection to. Please explain your choice.
One of my favorite projects was the one I got to do with other people.
Learning how to draw with them and working as a team to make a this project. Now we can all look back to and say I worked with theses certain
people and I'm glad I did this project with them. We had to do this project in the early start of Art 1 when we still weren't certain of people's capability in doing art. So when the teams where made we had to use everything we knew to make the project as good as it possibly could. During the process I learned about the people I was working with and got help from the people who where better than me. Picking up techniques other artist use is a vital way to become a better artist. I found that out working with my team. It was a successful project because we made a personal connection to each other and our efforts to making the project the best we could. This project in paticular didn't teach any techniques at all but in art that won't always happen. The big thing that I found out in this project is how in art being a team, working hard, and in harmony is one the best techniques possible.
THANK YOU MS. ROSSI FOR TEACHING ME ART. I NEVER THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLE!
